Lumbini — The theoretical debate on the Dalit Rights Bill tabled in the Lumbini Provincial Assembly concluded on Wednesday.

The discussion was held during the third meeting of the seventh session of the Provincial Assembly on the Bill to Provide for Dalit Rights, 2082. The proposal to hold a theoretical discussion on the bill was presented by Provincial Minister for Social Development, Janmajay Timilsina.

Responding to questions raised during the debate, Minister Timilsina addressed concerns expressed by assembly members. Provincial Assembly members Indrajit Tharu, Lok Kumari Bishwakarma, and Bishnu Panthi participated in the theoretical discussion, stating that certain provisions of the bill tend to restrict, rather than strengthen, Dalit rights.

During the same meeting, Assembly members Yambhadur Sarki, Ratnabahadur Khatri, Ambika Kafle, Meena Kumari Shrestha, Dhanlakshmi Shrestha, Indrajit Tharu, and Bhoj Prasad Shrestha also shared their views on contemporary issues.
